View Full Version : For Sale or trade: Murphy's Red beer (6) 16oz cans
$8 or will trade for sixer of something good...meaning no Bud, Miller, or
Coors products. It should be brown or dark, not clear. I don't like Heineken either (if you do, you'll love this stuff).
That's a full 96 oz of beer!!! That's like 2 free beers. Let me know what you have. Delivered cold.
:cheers

I have cold stout on tap. Why don't you come over, rescue your taste buds and have a fine pint? I'm currently brewing a Hefenweizen that is looking better and better by the day. I'm amazed at how fast the primary fermentation took off. Mmmmmm, can't wait to sample this one, it's gonna go fast! 2.5 more weeks on the Hefe.

We should have a batch ready for bottling (Tongue Splitter). Maybe you can drop and help with a the tasting session.

I bought this Murphy's Red Friday for this past Sunday's parade. I didn't want to be carrying around homebrew 22oz bottles. I should of read the label first (Product of Holland..Heineken blah blah blah...yuck!)
TP - that's funny, it's like we're on the same schedule. I made an Oktoberfest, nut brown, then a stout, and have a wheat in the fermentor right now that should be bottled in the next few days. The stout is by far my favorite so far. Next is a cream ale. My neighbor and I need to start making doublebatches, it's going too quick.
Carla - when's the house warming party/mini brewfest? I reserved a couple samples from the nut brown so you and Jim could give me an opinion (of course they're still from kits). Still plenty of stout, but for how long... :cheers

I am still thinking about what to do about that...
I think my favorite brews to make are Cream ale and Kolsch...
Probably will be my first brews I make in the new place

I have found the kit beers to be excellent despite the opinion that it is not "real" homebrewing. The construction of a lauter tun and mashing just seem like too much work for me. Someday maybe....
Next on the brew list is an Anchor Steam clone.

That was the first one Jim made when he started. It came out pretty damn fine.

I tend to agree... All grain is a bit of work... but like anything it is like going from a "ten speed" to a "road bike"... both will get you there one just has more bells and whistles...
You can still tune up your "10 speed" pretty nice by using yeast starters and using different hops... I even went out and planted some fuggles and a northern hops... I didn't get a yield last year but this year I plan on using them to flavor my own fall reciepe.
I plan on doing all grain when I have my own house with a garage that I can make a nice set up that is permanent...
I will say that doing a partial mash is pretty cool and will give some great results...
I have been using Northern Brewer's kits now and find that they are the best of the "10 speeds". Their ingredients are the freshest and I like using the smack pack yeast... It always tells you that you have little beasties ready to turn your wort into beer.

What are the advantages to going to a partial grain mash? Does it add more flavor? I bought my extract kits from Arbor Beer and Wine in Islip. They are awesome. I tend to agree that Northern Brewer has better kits but the kits from Arbor have been fine as well.

I have seen it in Beer City in Deer Park. I am pretty certain they keep a rolling stock of it.
